Mr.Joe Gallagher and I had the privilege to take some of the LCA class of 2015/16 to Gartan Outdoor Centre as part of a bonding exercise for the group. We had a great time and were able to take part in a lot of activities at the centre. We started off with lunch of course just to set us up for our afternoon and evening activities!! Our first activity was sailing. As it turned out we had chosen the best two days of the summer to go to Gartan!! The weather was perfect for sailing....as the instructor had told us. So the first task of the day was to get the wet suits on the right way round (zip to the back) and the right way in ( size on the inside!) which proved to be more challenging than we thought..... Eventually we all managed after a few attempts to be wet suited up and life jacket attached with shoes socks optional in some cases!! Now to face the fears...... as I was expecting 100% from the boys I had to give it myself so into the water we went.......and to my surprise even though I was a little nervous when we gathered up speed I really enjoyed it and would definitely try it again. The boys all did a fantastic job and all proved to be confident and proficient sailors, unfortunately we didn't take any photos at any of the activities as we were all too busy concentrating. That evening after a well earned dinner we took to some orienteering around the Gartan estate which took us on an adventure!!....this was followed by a table tennis tournament, which we all took part in and Daniel won...Well done... The following morning the boys all put on a harnass and climbed the walls as if Rock climbing, which was very challenging, yet they all managed it. Our final activity before lunch was Archery which turned out to be a lot harder than it looked... although Ronan and Leigh made it look very easy compared to some of us! Well done to all the boys for taking part it was a most enjoyable couple of days and Thank you to the instructors and all at Gartan for looking after us and having such great facilities. Donna :) |
