Before you start:
1. Wash your hands
2. Put on an apron
3. Turn on the oven (Approx 180 degrees/ Gas mark 4
4. Prepare your tray for the oven (Use Parchment Paper on a baking tray)
5. Collect all the utensils you need
6. Collect all the ingredients you need
7. Remember to clear and clean as you go and wash up afterwards :)
Peanut Butter Cookies
4 oz Butter
4 oz Peanut Butter
4 oz light brown sugar
4 oz dark brown sugar
1 egg (Beaten)
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla essence/extract
3 oz plain flour
1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
pinch of salt
4 oz rolled oats (Porridge Oats)
Method
1. Place the butters and sugars into a saucepan and heat gently until melted.
2. Leave this to cool for a few minutes and prepare the other ingredients
3. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl (Sieved Flour, Baking Powder, Salt and Rolled Oats)
4. Add the beaten egg (a little at a time)to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix well in between each addition.
5. Add the vanilla essence and mix again
6. Add all the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and fold in gently, in a figure of 8 movement, so that the flour does not spill everywhere!
7. Spoon the cookie dough out onto a lined baking tray using 2 dessert spoons, keep a space between each cookie as they will spread out.
8. Bake for approx 12 - 16 minutes (depending on your oven, they may take a little longer, up to 20 minutes) or until golden brown.
